Donley’s Inc. was founded in 1941 in Cleveland, Ohio, on a mission to create a world-class concrete construction business and invest in the success of its employees. Over their 80 years in business, Donley’s has grown to over 200 employees and expanded their operations across Virginia, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia.

When Donley’s began acquiring additional service locations in 2016, the organization’s leaders knew they would need a solution to bring HR and recruiting processes together. Their previous processes were 100% paper-based, which made it difficult to track and manage HR documentation. As a federal contractor, Donley’s required extra reporting capabilities to adhere with the Office of Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) regulations.

Human Resources Director, Lauren Rudman, sought advice from fellow Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) members to find a compliant HR solution. In 2017 they discovered the Arcoro Applicant Tracking (ATS), Onboarding and Performance Management Systems based on recommendations from the AGC network.

After implementing the Arcoro ATS, Rudman could centralize recruiting information into a single online platform. “It’s our one-stop-shop for candidates to apply for positions within our organization,” she said. “It’s increased the number of candidates we receive for each position and increased our company’s employer brand exposure.” Rudman also credits the ability to post jobs to a variety of job boards with just a few clicks to the overall increase in new applicants.

Getting Off on the Right Foot

Arcoro Onboarding helps Rudman and her team onboard new hires with ease electronically. “Onboarding helps us increase new hire engagement before their start date, so they’re not spending hours filling out paperwork and asking about benefits or payroll,” said Rudman. Donley’s new hires now go online to sign off on state-specific onboarding paperwork depending on where they are located, as well as federal forms and company handbooks.

Donley’s has been a family-owned and operated business for four generations. Over that time, the company has developed an annual and semi-annual review process to aid in employee engagement and development. They were able to use Arcoro to streamline their paper-based processes while maintaining the same core values during performance reviews.
“We offer a new hire survey within the first 90 days of employment,” Rudman said. “This is part of the onboarding process and Arcoro’s Performance Management module helps us deploy these, along with our regular reviews.”
